Communal Prayer

Meet us, O Christ,
in the stillness of this moment.
Move us, O Spirit,
to quiet our hearts.
Mend us, O Father,
from yesterday’s harms.

From discords,
resurrect our peace.
From discouragements,
resurrect our hope.
From weariness,
resurrect our strength.
From cynicism,
resurrect our faith.
From wounds,
resurrect our love.

Let us enter this new day, aware of our need, and awake to your grace. Amen.

Scripture

Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16

Reflection and Discussion

A life of faith, rooted in God’s Story, will be marked by both beauty and pain, joy and sorrow, rejoicing and hardship. Along this journey, Rebecca reminded us last week of the ever-present invitation to come and commune with God in prayer. He delights in us and longs for us to become people of trusting faith in what He will accomplish.

Prayer is a practice of humility. It is not about asserting our agenda but about surrendering to God’s presence. Rather than striving to achieve something through our prayers, we are invited to rest in the work God is already doing in the present moment. Prayer becomes the space where we bring our honest thoughts and feelings before God—and then release them in faith, trusting Him with each day.

Instead of becoming people of anxious striving, we are formed into people of peaceful trust, receiving God’s grace and mercy anew each day.

  • So share together: In what area of your life are you being called to prayerfully commune and surrender—trading nervous striving for trustful receiving of God's grace and mercy?
